Book Barn GrantThird Grade teacher Christina Reed was the recipient of the Delaware Farm Bureau Book Barn Program Grant. The Farm Bureau works to "promote and protect Delaware Agriculture through education and advocacy to ensure a quality of life for farmers and their consumers". The purpose of the Book Barn is to increase agricultural literacy in Delaware youth. The grant consists of a collection of "ag accurate" books complete with Teaching Materials and a miniature barn for storage. Representatives from the program presented the Book Barn and shared the 2017 Book of the Year First Peas to the Table by Susan Grigsby. Each year the Book Barn will receive the latest Delaware Farm Bureau's Book of the Year. Mrs. Reed has generously donated the Book Barn and its materials to the LB Library so that it can be shared by everyone. For more information about the book and the real "First Peas to the Table Contest" visit the American Farm Bureau contest page.
